YO G!

I realized I haven't blogged about one of the exciting events that have recently taken place. I got a NEW JOB! I am so excited! I am working as a teacher for the Head Start program. This is COMPLETELY new & different than anything I have ever done. The last couple of weeks I have been creating bulletin boards (which have gotten rave reviews), cut out a MILLION little things, made a paper tree, used the di-cut a trillion times, had a nervous breakdown wondering what in the world I have done, gone on heartbreaking home visits, and taken as many naps as I could! Who knew being a preschool teacher working for 6 hours a day would be so HARD...but entirely worth it...at least I hope, the kids haven't even started school yet :) I had a really hard time believing I could do this job and be good at it...my last job was easy I knew what I was doing and I like to think I was good at it...who knows they are probably celebrating now that I am gone! This new adventure is not easy, not even at all, but I love it. I feel important and most importantly I feel like I am in the right place. This was definitely a meant to be event in my life, things have lined up and worked out surprisingly perfect...crazy how life works.

Today was one of those days that made me happy I decided to take a leap of faith. Our kids don't start until after Labor Day so I have been busy working with my teacher (there are two teachers in a classroom, one lead...I am not yet the lead and that is A-OK) getting the room ready and everything else! I was walking to the library this morning at recess when some students were walking out to the playground. This one little boy stopped and was mesmerized by the little space where the door meets the wall, he was trying to see behind the open door. He was standing there for a good five minutes staring and finally I asked him if there was anything good back there. He thought I was hilarious, it made my day :) Later I was walking down the hall to the workroom (I love that place) and there were some other little kids...probably in 1st grade...walking out to recess there was this little WHITE boy who had his hoodie on (mind you it was a million degrees) with his sleeves puffed up and the hood on his head, while he was walking out the door he shouted "YO G" in this absolutely ghetto voice...IT WAS HILARIOUS! It took everything I had not to burst out laughing...at least until I got to the workroom! I have realized kids are entertaining when they are not being naughty or annoying! These little things make my day so much funner and easier. There is a lot of stress with teaching kids, so I appreciate all these funny moments. Next week is when the real fun begins, school starts on Wednesday and then we will see if I am really cut out for this job! Don't worry I will keep you posted.

P.S. Is it normal to be wearing a bra in THIRD GRADE? I don't think I had one until sixth or seventh...however I have more than made up for it now...just wondering?

Wow you are on quite the adventure. Good luck and I'm sure you'll do fantastic! Kids are so fun at that age as I'm experiencing right now. Ryan just started preschool and it's so fun to see what she learns everyday.
